The Iran national football team has entered a new era with the election of Mehdi Taj as the president of the Iran Football Federation. Mehdi Taj was elected with 51 votes as the president of the Iran Football Federation. This election was held at the Iran Football Federation's general assembly. Azizollah Mohammadi and Mirshad Majidi were the other candidates in this election, receiving 4 and 25 votes respectively. Mehdi Taj said after his election, 'There is no room for complaint.' He asked for support for his proposed vice-presidents so that the team can be strong and unified. Mehdi Mohammadnabi was elected as the first vice-president with 64 votes, and Mansour Ghanbarzadeh was elected as the second vice-president with 58 votes. Mehdi Taj started his sports management career in the 1970s with his membership in the board of directors of Sepahan Isfahan club. His background includes being the CEO of Sepahan club and a member of the board of directors of Fajr Sepasi Shiraz and Zob Ahan clubs. He has also been the head of the national teams committee and the referees committee of the Iran Football Federation, the secretary-general of the Iran Football Union, the head of the Iran Football League, and the vice-president of the Iran Football Federation. Mehdi Taj was born in 1959 in Isfahan and is one of the most well-known figures in Iranian sports, with a background in military, security, and economics. He joined the Revolutionary Guards in 1980 and became the deputy head of the Foundation of the Oppressed in Isfahan province. In 1983, he was sent to western Iran for intelligence and operational activities. After the Iran-Iraq war, Mehdi Taj started extensive economic activities while maintaining his position in the Revolutionary Guards. With less than three months to go until the World Cup, the sensitivity of the current election has increased. Mehdi Taj said after his election, 'There is no room for complaint.' He asked for support for his proposed vice-presidents so that the team can be strong and unified. Following Mehdi Taj's election, Vahid Shamsaei, the coach of the Iran national futsal team, also resigned, stating that his thoughts are not in line with the new president.
