The Bitter End of the Iran National Team's Eagle

Abdasteh played his last game for Iran in 1997 and his last game for Persepolis in 2000. He was left out of the national team in 1999 and did not participate in the 2000 Asian Cup.

Why Abdasteh was left out

Abdasteh had a disagreement with the national team's coaching staff and the Iranian Football Federation in 1999, and was eventually left out of the team. Mohsen Safaei Fardhani, the president of the Iranian Football Federation at the time, did not have a good relationship with Abdasteh.

Abdasteh's future

Abdasteh underwent a major surgery in Germany in 1999 and eventually regained his fitness in December of the same year. He had a remarkable performance in goal for Persepolis, which made Iranian football fans strongly protest his absence from the national team and demand his return to the team.

Abdasteh's last game

Abdasteh participated in the Asian Cup knockout stage in 2000 and played his last game for Persepolis on March 21, 2000. The rest of the story is a painful memory for the fans of the Iranian national team.

The relationship between Abdasteh and Daei

The relationship between Abdasteh and Ali Daei continued. When Daei took over Persepolis for the first time in the winter of 2008, Abdasteh also played for his team.
