The Iran national football team is facing a new issue in the 2026 World Cup. The allocated ticket quota for the Iranian Football Federation has been removed. This comes as Iranian football fans had made necessary plans to attend the matches. The Iranian Football Federation announced that eight percent of the ticket capacity for each match is allocated to the participating federations in the World Cup. However, it seems that this quota has been removed for the Iranian national football team. This news was announced as the Iranian team has been accompanied by numerous controversies in the 2026 World Cup. One of these controversies is the confirmation of visas for the members of the Iranian national football team by the US ambassador to Turkey. Additionally, The New York Times reported that all 26 Iranian players' requests have been accepted, but more than 10 members of the support staff and federation officials do not have permission to enter the US. Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, has stated that he is determined to prevent Iran from sneaking individuals associated with the Revolutionary Guard into the national football team's caravan for the World Cup.
