Iran national team needs major overhaul

Former Iran player Morteza Yekta has called for significant changes to the national team to ensure success at the upcoming Asian Cup. Speaking to Hamshahrionline, he said: "The World Cup is over for us, now we must focus on the future of our national football."

Asian Cup looms large

Yekta emphasized the importance of the Asian Cup, stating: "We must plan carefully to win the continental title after more than 50 years." Iran currently sits third in their World Cup group with 3 points (0W-3D-0L).

Youth policy crucial

He stressed the need for youth development: "Our national team needs a systematic youth policy to build a young, energetic squad for the Asian Cup."

Esteghlal must act in transfer window

Yekta commented on Esteghlal's transfer situation: "Esteghlal should prioritize retaining their current players and open the transfer window as soon as possible."

Quality foreign signings needed

He advised on foreign players: "Esteghlal must be more selective with foreign signings and not let agents make decisions for them."

Bakhtiarizadeh needs support

Yekta urged support for Esteghlal's manager: "Bakhtiarizadeh should have the final say, and the club management must support him under all circumstances."
