The Iranian Football Federation has stated that FIFA has not allocated any ticket quota for its fans at the 2026 World Cup. The federation says this decision leaves it unable to offer even a single ticket to national team supporters.
The accusation comes as Iran sits third in their World Cup group with 3 points from three draws. Their last match was a 1-1 draw against Egypt on June 27. Iran's World Cup campaign begins against New Zealand in Los Angeles on June 15, followed by matches against Belgium and Egypt in Seattle.
The Iranian federation claims the move stems from political obstruction by the United States. The federation said in a statement: "The United States has taken steps intended to prevent the presence of Iranian fans in the stadiums."
Visa hurdles and camp change
Some senior Iranian federation officials have also not yet received U.S. Visas. The team has been forced to change its training base from Arizona to Tijuana, Mexico. A U.S. Department of Homeland Security spokesperson rejected the Iranian official's claims, stating: "Those statements are false. Thanks to President Donald Trump’s generosity, the Iranian team will be allowed to arrive one day before the games."
Team status and next fixture
Iran remains unbeaten in their first three World Cup matches, securing three draws. Their next fixture is an away match against Uzbekistan on September 24. Fans can follow the team's full schedule on our fixtures page. The senior squad list and player statistics are available on the stats page. Iran, with 3 goals scored and 3 conceded, trails group leaders Belgium by just 2 points.
